Fire & Security Service Engineer
Key Purpose of the Role
You will be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and installation of a wide range of systems including intruder alarms, CCTV, access control, fire alarm systems, portable extinguishers, and emergency lighting. All work must be carried out to the highest standards and in line with current regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain intruder, CCTV, and access control systems
- Work towards and exceed maintenance and fault-finding targets
- Demonstrate systems to customers, explaining causes and consequences of false alarms
- Carry out corrective and preventative maintenance of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and portable extinguishers
- Commission and handover GENT & Advanced Fire Alarm systems
- Participate in an on-call rota for out-of-hours callouts and telephone support
- Install conventional and analogue addressable fire alarm systems to a high standard
- Install and commission portable extinguishers
- Understand client requirements and deliver work to meet expectations
Essential Requirements
- Strong communication skills and customer focus
- Proven fault-finding ability with a “first-time fix” approach
- Background in fire engineering with hands-on experience
- Working knowledge of intruder panels (Galaxy, Menvier, Scantronic)
- Experience with Network/IP-based products
- Skilled in service and repair work
- Experience with conventional and addressable fire systems across multiple manufacturers
- Good installation practices and attention to detail
- Knowledge of system integration with other disciplines (advantageous)
- Full understanding of BS5839 standards
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Knowledge of GENT & Advanced Fire Alarm systems
- Experience with VESDA and other aspirating systems
- Electrical background
- ICEL accreditation for emergency lighting
- FIA Service & Maintenance certification for fire extinguishers
- Broad fire product knowledge
